Special Helpers are the backbone of the Special Needs Ministry! Each of these individuals gives their time and love to each child, teen, and adult with special needs that come through our doors. Not only are they dedicated to these children, teens, and adults, but they are also diligent to learn more about disabilities. Each volunteer working in Special Needs is trained to understand the unique situations that may occur when working with individuals with disabilities: the importance of classroom routine, how to handle a verbal/physical/emotional concerns, how to use a multi-sensory approach to teaching, and everything in between! Various volunteer staff are trained and certified in CPI: Crisis Prevention Intervention in order to provide a safe and secure environment.

While our staff works to faithfully provide quality special needs programs, the success of the Special Needs Ministry depends on volunteers like you!

Our team consists of caring adults and college students. It is our goal to model Christ’s love and serve ALL families.

We desire to have people serve within our ministry:

• Where they feel comfortable
• Where they can use their gifts and talents
• With an age group that they enjoy
• With other people that they enjoy

Where can you serve?

Sunday Mornings

Special Needs Volunteer (9:15-10:45 a.m.) Children & Youth
Special Needs Volunteer (10:45 a.m.-12p.m.) Children, Youth, & Adults

Wednesday Evenings

Special Needs Volunteer, (5:50-7:00 p.m.) Children/Kidz Praise/W.N.L.

Various Events

Special Day Outs (kids/teens/adults)
Loaves of Love Chef Teachers (Thursdays/weekly)
WISe Team (Worship In Sign) practice assistants
Sports Camp buddies/Junction buddies
Men’s/Women’s Ministry support (providing support aid to adults with special needs participating in these events)
Vacation Bible School

Monthly: (Adults only)

Special Needs Volunteer (5:50pm-8:10pm/event is 6-8pm) the third Monday of each month at The MIX

How to apply

Fill out the SN Volunteer Application and Background Check form. You may print a copy or come by the Special Needs Ministry office to pick up one.

Bring the completed forms by the Special Needs Ministry office, including a copy of your driver’s license.
After the background check and staff approval, the Special Needs Ministry will place and train you for your chosen ministry.
