Vision

By Dean Gage

This week, we look at the important trait of vision in spiritual leadership and how every man must have a vision for his own life and a vision for his family.  Vision is critical to leadership since people do not follow someone who does not know where they are going.  The lack of vision within a family or group at work results in disaster and chaos.  This is the reason so many families today are in ruin.  Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”  Perish means to run wild without direction or to have no restraint.

Jesus knew at the early age of twelve where He was going and He stayed on course with a passion and calling from His Father all the way to the cross to fulfill His purpose in life.  If we are a Christian, we should know our calling, purpose, and passion according to how God has gifted us and given us a mission to complete.  Look at the answer Jesus gave His mother at the age of twelve:  Luke 2:48-49 “And His mother said to Him, ‘Son, why have you treated us this way?  Behold, your father and I have been anxiously looking for You?’  And Jesus said to them, ‘Did you not know that I had to be about my Father’s business?’”  You probably did not know God’s calling on your life at age twelve, but you should at your current age.  And, remember that your calling or vision or mission is a sacred call from God that He will hold you accountable.  Are you fulfilling it today?
