Deuteronomy 9:3 “But be assured today that the Lord your God is the one who goes ahead of us.”  I do not believe that there has ever been a more difficult time than today to lead and raise a family in the culture in which we live.  It is not a road or path down which we have gone before.  You do not have Spring Training or an internship to get ready.  You learn on the go and face new issues each day.  You have to also remember that your family and children have never been down the road either.  The roads today have many dangers and potential wrecks ahead.

A spiritual leader must stay focused on the One who sees and goes ahead of us.  He knows the dangerous curves, speed bumps and washed out bridges ahead.  He wants us to remember and trust that He goes ahead of us and that we can be assured of it.  A true man of faith and spiritual leadership today must stay focused on the only reliable guide into the unknown – Our Father in Heaven.  The Bible is our road map, but God is the author and GPS to follow.

We should know our destination.  It must be heaven and God has gone ahead of us to provide the way through Jesus.  When I travel the “Million Dollar Highway” from Durango to Silverton, Colorado, I want to ride with someone who has traveled it before and has gone ahead of me.  I don’t even like to drive that road because of the curves, lack of guardrails and dangers from oncoming traffic.  Life is similar and we can be assured that God is the one who goes ahead of us.  Stay in His care for a safe journey to the eternal destination.
