Galatians 5:16 “Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” Strong, effective and courageous spiritual leaders walk with God. What does this mean? To walk means to place one foot in front of the other and move forward one step at a time. If we stop doing this, we are no longer walking, but standing still or even backing up. Walking implies active movement, achievement and a definite direction or path. This is how we are to walk with God and in step with Him through the direction and path of the Holy Spirit. God’s leading the way is clearly the best because we are weak, stumble and become diverted. We get our direction through His Word and walking in the Spirit. These two authorities in our lives are the mark of a strong spiritual leader who knows the way and goes the way for others to follow.
A leader in Scripture whom God saved mankind is Noah and look at what God said about him. Genesis 6:8-9 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord…….Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God.” With all of the issues we face in our culture today, no man can be a strong leader by himself. He is in a real war to live a life of integrity and to lead those whom God has given him to lead. He must walk with God as Noah did to save his own family and work. Wisdom, discretion and direction of leadership are dependent on this walk. To take a stand as Noah will require walking with God and obedience to His direction in our lives. Lust of the flesh and financial improprieties are the two most common sins that bring men and leaders down. So, commit today to walk in the Spirit to avoid fulfilling these two strategies of the enemy. This is how to find favor in the eyes of the Lord like Noah.
