John 1 & 14: (1) “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”)  Our church recently had a visiting preacher who stated that the last issue of GQ Magazine had an article about books we should not read, which included the Bible.  I looked up this article on the web and found the title to be “21 Overrated Books You Don’t Have to Read Before You Die.”  It states that the Holy Bible is rated very highly by all the people who supposedly live by it but who in actuality have not read it.  The article further states, “the Bible is certainly not the finest that man ever produced.  It is repetitive, self-contradictory, sententious, foolish and even at time ill-intended.”  If you don’t know, look up the definition of sententious to understand what GQ intended this article to communicate.

This is what you, your children and grandchildren and our culture are told today and it is no more than just another lie from the enemy.  As a Christian leader, we must uphold the truth, relevancy, timeliness and life changing message of the Bible for all eternity.  Read, meditate and memorize God’s Word and lead your children to honor God’s Word.  Don’t just tell them but show them that this is how you live.  GQ Magazine has it all wrong and is reading someone else’s mail.  The Bible is God’s mail to us.  GQ doesn’t know that the Bible is not a human production but was written by God himself through His Spirit working through his called servants and leaders.  GQ may have gotten one part right with the statement that many people have not actually read it.  If this kind of media is perpetrated in 2018, what is next?  I don’t know, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.  How about you?  Don’t neglect to read the only Book which will give you life and life eternal.  I am going to take God’s recommendation over that of GQ Magazine.  My closing comment is this, “The Bible is the one Book you should read over and over before you die.”
