Romans 5:8 "God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Last Monday our nation celebrated Memorial Day to honor the men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice of their lives to protect our freedom. It is only fitting that we pause to remember them on a special day each year and to celebrate the freedoms we have as a nation. Wars have threatened our freedom and way of life. We should always stop to recognize and appreciate what they did for us. If they had not given their lives, we would not be a free people. I hope that you led your family in a prayer to recognize these fallen heroes and that your family will never forget them.
For the Christian, every day should be a Memorial Day to recognize and honor the life Jesus gave to set us free from sin and bondage. He voluntarily gave His life on the cross to reconcile us to God the Father. Even while we were still sinners, Jesus died for us. We should start each morning with honor and thanksgiving for what Christ has done for us. We should remind our families of this greatest sacrifice ever and that is personal and eternal. We are always in a war with the enemy, but His death has given us the victory to live a life of freedom. Memorial Day is for the Christian leader to remember Who really died to set us free.
