Provider & Protector

By Dean Gage

Matthew 12:29 “How can anyone enter the strong man’s house and carry off his possessions unless he first binds the strong man? Then he will plunder his house.” One of man’s most important leadership responsibilities is to provide and protect his own home and family. Unfortunately, this leadership responsibility is not taken seriously today in many homes and the enemy is waiting to bind up a man in sin and worldly activities. When this occurs, a man often loses his most precious possessions – his wife and children. This results in the loss of protection and provisions for the family: spiritually, emotionally and physically.

So, what is the bottom line? It is that all of us as men must watch our personal spiritual walk and priorities to put Christ and God’s Word first in our lives and leadership. This is how we can keep our own house from being plundered. We must be strong men who are perceptive to the ways the enemy uses to bind us. The enemy is smart, deceptive and cunning. He analyzes your game films every day. He is watching for a door or window that a man may leave open for him to enter. He will only put a foot or hand in first and then push for a greater opening. This is how the enemy enters a life and home. “Give the enemy an inch and he will become a ruler.” Don’t give an inch to pornography, lust, another woman, power, position, money, sports, laziness or spiritual malaise. These temptations usually start an inch at a time, but then become binding rulers for men who thought they were strong. No Christian man wants to see his home and family plundered and lost. He must always stay alert and active in leadership to be the provider and protector who leads by the example of Christ in his life. God promises to walk with us side by side every step of the way. What a promise to live by!
