PLAN A OR PLAN B

By Dean Gage

Plan A or Plan B: Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”  As leaders, we are often faced with questions of what we are to do and the decisions we must make.  We hear the statement, “This is my Plan A, but I may have to go to Plan B.”  The real question is to ask, “What is God’s plan?”  It reminds me of an age-old adage, “There are three answers to every question – yours, mine and what is right.”  As a Christian, the answer must be that yours and what is right (God’s answer) are always the same.  How do we make this determination?  We do it through prayer, God’s Word and the Holy Spirit with a peace and confidence of His leading.

God did not need or have a Plan B in mind when he sent His only Son to earth.  He only had a Plan A.  Then, Jesus had only a Plan A and never a Plan B.  With God, there has always been only one plan and that is our salvation through the shed blood of His Son.  Jesus knew about Plan A even at the young age of twelve when He told his mother in Luke 2:49 “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be about my Father’s business?”  On the cross, Jesus made the statement that consummated Plan A forever when He said, “It is finished.” God’s Plan A was finished and is still in effect today.   God knows His plans for each of us and it is Plan A to accept His only Son as Savior and Lord.  The world is still offering Plan B but it has no future or hope.   God’s Plan A is the only plan with an eternal future and hope to be with Him forever.  Every person will have to ultimately give an answer to accept and follow Plan A or Plan B.  “As for me and my house, we will follow Plan A.”  What about you?
