Living as a Representative of Christ

By Dean Gage

I Thessalonians 2:8 “To impart to you not only the Gospel of God, but also our own lives.” To spiritually lead by example and to be a role model Christian, a man’s life must reflect the character of Christ. The character traits of Christ include integrity, courage, attitude, vision/purpose, responsibility and perseverance which we have examined in detail earlier in this series. They should come together in a man’s life and speak louder than words, particularly to our family.

Clarence Kelland said, “My father didn’t tell me how to live; he lived and let me watch him do it as an example of how it should be done” The best way to show another person you are a Christian and spiritual leader is to live, behave and show them an example of one. Yes, people do what they see people do. Our life will ultimately be our message, our purpose, our passion, our ministry and our legacy. “Our character will produce our example and our example will be the product of our character.” The bottom line or foundation is simple. We are to build the character of Christ into our lives each day and to keep on growing and maturing as His Word and the Holy Spirit lead us.

Question: “Does your spiritual leadership provide an example of a life following the character and leadership of Christ? The proof of outstanding leadership is seen in the lives of the followers. Leaders who make NO difference in the lives of their followers are NOT really leaders.”  Are you making an impact in the lives of those you lead?
