Deuteronomy 2: 27-29 “Let us pass through your country. We will stay on the main road; we will not turn aside to the right or to the left. Sell us food to drink and food to eat…..Only, let us pass through on foot….until we reach the Jordan into the land the Lord our God is giving us.”   From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture is filled with clear and consistent instructions on how we are to live and lead our lives as we pass through our time here on earth.  We are to stay on the main road and lead others down the main road to our destination of eternity with Jesus which God is giving us.  We are not to turn aside to the right or to the left as the world does.  We have to purchase food and drink as we travel, but our main purpose is to navigate through this culture following the main road.

I once heard a Christian speaker tell men that one of our goals in the Christian life must be to keep the “main thing” the “main thing.”  This is not easy for us in our culture today that has gotten off the main road to follow many wrong roads to destruction and death.  We are traveling through dangerous countries and war zones.  There is only one “main thing” and one “main road” that we are to follow and to lead those whom God has given us to lead. We are to share this with those traveling with us.  Jesus said in John 14: 6 “I am the way and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.”  There is only one way to reach the land God is offering us as a free gift.  As you lead in this increasingly dangerous culture, do not turn to the right or to the left but stay on the “main road.”
