Leaders Walk Like Jesus

By Dean Gage

I John 2: 6 “Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did.” Although we can never achieve walking exactly like Jesus, this must be our example and our goal of obedience.  We know that we are to walk in life and spiritual leadership following his footsteps through the Bible and Holy Spirit.  This is so important for our own personal walk, but is crucial for those who follow our footsteps.  What about your family, especially your children and grandchildren.  Just like we should follow in the footsteps of Jesus, our walk should be one of Christian integrity and character that they should follow.  Quote:  “Life is like a field of newly fallen snow; where I choose to walk, every step will show.”

Last Christmas, we spent Christmas with our children and grandchildren in the snow of Colorado with more than two feet of snow around our condo.  One morning, we decided to walk over to a small mountain incline from our condo.  The snow was so deep that walking was very difficult for the grandkids to reach our destination.  So, I went ahead of them to make footsteps to show the way and to pack the snow for them to follow.  Our lives as spiritual leaders should be the same as we follow the footsteps of Jesus; we leave foot prints for those following us.  These foot prints should be worthy to follow and lead to an eternal destination.  They should never lead down a path that strays from where Jesus would lead us. The question is simple, “Are you walking as Jesus did?”
