LEADERS PRAY FOR WISDOM

By Dean Gage

LEADERS PRAY FOR WISDOM:  James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”   We all make many decisions every day with some being more important and life impacting than others.  We all want to make the right decisions for those whom we lead and ourselves as a Christian.  We want our decisions to honor God and to impact his kingdom and the people around us.  Our decision making should start with prayer seeking God’s wisdom first.  So, we pray, talk with God and seek what His Word speaks to us.  He doesn’t want us to fail but to succeed in all our decisions and relationships.  This is part of his ministry through each of us.

What do we mean by Christian wisdom?  One of the best definitions is that wisdom is “seeing life from God’s point of view.”  When we see life from God’s point of view from His Word and the Holy Spirit, we will be base our wisdom and decisions on God’s character and His promises to us.  There is nothing wrong at all for us to say, “Lord, I don’t know what to do?  Give me the wisdom to do what you would have me to do.”  We do not know all the answers, but He does.  “Show me any man who knows all the answers and I will show you a man who doesn’t know all the questions.”  We need to be open, honest and specific with God.  This is the way He wants to be with us and He already knows the issue, the answer and the decision.  You want your children to relate to you in this same way.  We are His children and claiming His wisdom must be the foundation and compass of our leadership and decision making.
