LEADERS PLANT SEEDS OF PRAYER

By Dean Gage

Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to Me and I will answer you and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”  My wife and I visited the Hill Country this past week and noticed the beautiful Texas bluebonnets beginning to bloom.  When I got home, I went to an area outside my yard where I had planted several packages of bluebonnet seeds last November.  I followed the planting instructions carefully and was glad to see our cold winter which is supposed to help the seeds germinate.  I have no bluebonnet plants growing – nothing.  I am disappointed but know through research that bluebonnet seeds may take 1 – 3 years to germinate and grow.  Some of the seeds may never come to fruition. This reminded me about many of my prayers which seem to take so long to germinate and blossom after planting them before the Lord.

God’s timing is not our timing and we have to be Christian leaders with patience and perseverance to allow time for the seeds of our prayers to blossom.  Some of them may never come to blossom because they are not according to God’s will.  Others may take a longer time to be answered.  However, this should never stop us from calling to God with a confidence that He will hear and answer us.  We are to plant the seeds of prayer and trust Him to answer.  Plant seeds for Christ into lives of people who don’t know Him and pray for them.  I have always found that He knows best and answers in His timing for what is best for us and His kingdom.  Plant the seeds of prayer, keep watering them with trust, patience, perseverance and confidence in His promises.  Our prayers will take root if they are in accordance with His will.  Fathers, plant seeds of prayers for your children and keep on watering them.  It may take more time for them to germinate, but don’t stop.  It must not be God’s will for me to have bluebonnets this year, but I will keep caring for the cultivation site and be excited to see some of them blossom in the coming years.
