Mark 10: 32 “They (Jesus and His disciples) were on their way to Jerusalem, with Jesus out front leading the way.” I have never seen a picture of Jesus not being out front leading His disciples. He was not behind them and pushing them along. He was in front showing them the way, going the way and leading the way. This should be the model and example that a man follows for his own family and in his workplace and church. We cannot lead people by pushing them from the backside. This would be like trying to push a rope or piece of string. Push it and it will go now where at all.
When a football team enters the field of play, most often it is the coach who leads them out of the stadium tunnel. The team players follow his lead into the battle because he is the one who has experience, knowledge of the playbook and their best interest at heart. Your family is looking for you to be out front leading them into the daily battles of the world in which they live. The head coach is in constant communication with the other coaches high in the press box to make the on-field decisions for the team to win. You are the head coach of your family who must study and know the playbook of life, the Bible, and who must stay in constant communication with the real head coach up in the press box of heaven. Yes, this is a simplified illustration but it is profound for how you lead the team God has given you to lead. Are you absent or present, active or passive? Are you leading by being out front showing the way, going the way and leading the way? Your team is expecting, looking and needing this kind of effective spiritual leadership on the battle field of life on the way to heaven. Only you can answer this question.
