Leaders Know To Whom To Go

By Dean Gage

John 6: 66-69 “After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with Him. So Jesus said to the Twelve, ‘Do you want to away also?’ Simon Peter answered Him, ‘Lord to whom shall we go?  You have the words of eternal life.’”  In our Scriptures today, we find that many followers of Jesus had turned away and no longer followed Him.  So, Jesus asked the Twelve disciple leaders if they were going to also leave?  They were paying a price to follow Him and the times were tough.  It constituted a crisis of faith and Jesus wanted to know who they were going to follow.  As usual, Peter was the first to answer and his answer was profound and one for us to ask ourselves many times over.

Leaders may or may not be at the top but they always have some level of leadership responsibility and have to follow a higher authority.  Leaders make decisions in one of two ways.  One is according to the culture and society (world) in which they live.  The second is according to what Jesus would have them do according to God’s Word.  The bottom line is that Christian men and leaders know to Whom they should go and not turn their back and walk away from Jesus.  Like Peter said, “He has the words of eternal life.”  There is no one else to whom we should go because He has the answer to every question or decision we will ever face.  Live out this profound principle of Christian leadership before your children and before those you lead at work.  It will by example teach them to know to whom to go and there is really only One to whom to go.
