Leaders Have Good Timing

By Dean Gage

Esther 4: 14 “And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”  This penetrating question is one for every man as he evaluates his spiritual leadership responsibilities for his family, work, church and community.  I firmly believe that the enemy hates for a man to ask himself this question as he looks at his life and leadership in these areas.  He simply wants a man to get busy and not take thought and inventory of the importance of his leadership in the times in which he lives.  Your life and leadership are for “such a time as this.”  And, this time will never be lived again and those we lead will be different because of us – one way or another.  A Christian man must recognize that God has placed him here for “such a time as this,” just as he did for Queen Esther.  A man should recognize and appreciate what God has placed before him.  God chose you to live in this time of 2015 and not before or in 2090.  You have been placed here for “such a time as this” to lead your wife and children.  Communicate this to them and how you take this responsibility very seriously and that God holds you accountable.  He chose you, and only you, to be their husband and father.

I have often looked back to really see how God also placed me in work and church positions for specific times of leadership.  I am confident that I was placed as President of Texas A&M University to handle a large number of difficult business, athletic and personnel decisions in the mid-90’s.  It was not easy but I was there for such a time as it was.  God was there to lead me through correction of every issue.  I have now led some six church building programs and know for certain that God placed me in each “for such a time as this.”  Here is the bottom line:  Do you accept the leadership challenges God places before you for “such a time as this?”  His placement of where you are today is just as IMPORTANT as it was for Queen Esther.  She obeyed God’s call and you can do no less.  You can do all things through Christ Who strengthens you.
