LEADERS CONTINUE TO GROW

By Dean Gage

Leaders Continue to Grow:  Matthew 4:4 But Jesus answered, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”  I often take the F&B Road between Wellborn Road and FM 2818 on my home or to town and pass by the research center for Miracle Grow products on the TAMU campus.  It reminds me of using Miracle Grow on our plants and flowers to keep them alive, healthy, blooming and growing.  When our flowers stop blooming, I mix up a bucket of Miracle Grow fertilizer and give them a dose of the nutrients.  They respond, turn green, and start blooming again.  So, I am sure that the Miracle Grow Research Center has produced a needed product and made it available for our benefit.  If I don’t use these products, my plants will become sick and die.

Our lives are no different in some ways as we must have the right nutrients for our spiritual health and growth.  After Jesus had been tempted for forty days and night, he must have been very hungry.  The devil tempted him to turn stones into bread.  Jesus knew what he needed to return to health and grow in his Father’s purpose in life.  His statement was quoted from the Old Testament and is still true for us today.  “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”  This is His Word and it contains all the vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates, fat, and antioxidants that are needed for life, health, and growth.  If you want to grow, God’s Word is the Miracle Grow that is available if we will just feed on it and ingest it.  It has been said, “That everything alive is still growing.”  I want to stay alive and keep growing in my Christian walk until Jesus calls me home.  For me to do this requires that I take advantage of his Miracle Grow – His Word.
