LEADERS ARE EQUIPPED BY GOD’S WORD

By Dean Gage

II Timothy 3: 16-17 “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”   The Bible is not a collection of human ideas about God and is not a human book.  It was breathed out by God (inspired) through His Spirit for man to follow and live daily.  The Bible is personal from God to man.  It is the inerrant and authoritative Word of God Himself to guide our conduct and leadership.  As leaders, it is our responsibility to read it, study it and apply it to our lives.  It is like a football player reading the playbook, studying it and then executing the plays on the field.  It is the truth and standard by which we are to test everything.  It is a safeguard against false teachings and deceptions.  It is to teach us and for us to use in teaching others how to live the Christian life.  The Bible is to rebuke or censure and correct us when we are wrong and to show us the way to go.  It gives us training in righteousness to become more like Jesus.  Why?

The purpose is to equip us to do God’s work in this world and to spiritually lead those whom God has given us to lead.  Men, you are the quarterback on the field for your family and the only way you can become equipped to lead is to know the playbook.  Those you lead must know that you read, study and execute the plan of Scripture in your own life.  Your responsibility is to lead the other players in reading the playbook of life – God’s Word.  It will be the measure upon which you make decisions, corrections and impact lives.  When the enemy throws new plays at you, you will already have the answers and know what you are to do.  It is now enough to know and study the playbook in the classroom.  That only equips us.  We must be complete and execute the plays of life as God directs.
