LEADERS ARE COMMITTED

By Dean Gage

LEADERS ARE COMMITTED

Galatians 2:20 “I have crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”  This is one of my two life verses which I can only strive to live out daily through His Spirit and God’s Word in my heart.  There is nothing quite like waking up in the morning to the smell of coffee, bacon and eggs cooking.  And maybe add a little bread of biscuits. It seems to awaken our senses and the coffee stimulates our brains to become alert.  But there is a statement I recently heard about bacon and eggs that is so applicable for us in our Christian walk and leadership.  The statement is this: “The chicken is invested, but the pig is committed.”

Galatians 2:20 reminds us that we are to be committed to live our lives as Christ lives in us and not to just be invested with only a head knowledge, like a chicken laying an egg.  When we realize and allow Christ to fully live in our lives, we are committed.  Christ was committed to the point of loving us so much that He gave his life on the cross for us.  He “saved our bacon” and provided the way to God the Father.  There is a huge difference between being invested and committed.  The decision for us is clear.  Are we going to live as an egg or as bacon and do what it takes to be committed?  “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.”
