LEAD LIKE A BIBLE

By Dean Gage

Ephesians 4: 1 “I urge you to walk (lead) in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness with patience.”  Someone has very wisely observed that the only Bible many people will ever read is the one they observe and see lived out in the life of a Christian.  In our busy and anti-Christian world today, where God’s Word is not often read or heard by most people, the way we live and lead our lives speaks louder than words.  While they may not read the Bible themselves, they cannot deny its power and impact as they see it lived out in our lives.  What do people see when they look at you?  Do they see Jesus and God’s Word lived out?  Do they see the fruit of the spirit in how you live?  Do they see the difference Jesus makes?

A small child (maybe your own children) who cannot yet read should see Jesus living in you. Everyone with whom we have contact should see this same life in us even though they are not reading God’s Word.  Your children should read your life as a Bible and testimony of Christ well before they can read and comprehend.  People at work should see that your life and leading reflect Jesus and the Bible.  You may well be the only Bible they will read and you must be an open book of God’s love and grace.  We are to walk in a manner worthy of our calling in humility and gentleness with patience.  We are not to be judgmental but show and go the way Christ has called us to live.  We can best do this by obediently building the Bible into our lives so that we become a man who leads like a Bible.  This is our calling in life which brings honor and glory to Christ as we become more like Him and His Word.
