HOW LEADERS BECOME STRONGER

By Dean Gage

Colossians 3: 17 “For He Who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”   Several years ago, sun tea was popular in the South.  A person would take a large clear gallon glass container and fill it with water.  They would then put several large tea bags in the water and expose the container to the sun on a clear and cloudless day.  The energy of the bright sun would warm the water and the tea would permeate from the tea bag into the water and begin to color it.  The longer this combination was exposed to the sun the stronger the tea became as evidenced by its darker color and taste.  It did not matter if it was sweetened or non-sweetened, the strength was determined by how much exposure was given to the sun.

Our lives are no different.  Just like the sun tea being exposed to the sun, the more we allow ourselves to be exposed to the God’s Son, the stronger we become.  The more we stay in the dark, the Son cannot change us and make us stronger.  Jesus Christ, the Son, is what permeates into our lives and makes us stronger to live and lead.  It is His light, warmth and energy that will make you stronger.  The enemy will try to keep you in the dark and from being exposed to the Son and to break the container or vessel of your life.  John 8: 12 Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”  To become stronger, we must follow Him and let the Son be the light of our lives.  This is the only way to not walk in darkness and to let others see how the Son has permeated our lives, just as exposure to the sun can make a vessel of strong tea.
