Here is a question for you: Is there a difference between spiritual and secular leadership? Most people will answer “yes.” For the Christian man, the answer is “no.” Why? It is because all of life is sacred and spiritual for a man of God. Even in the secular journals and books on leadership, the basic and fundamental traits and skills of strong effective leadership are biblically based and relate to the character traits of Jesus himself. He is still and will forever be the most compelling model of unselfish leadership. The key to Jesus’ leadership was the relationship He had with his Father. Man did not invent leadership. God did and He wrote a book about it called the Bible. All of the answers to leadership are recorded in His Word which is the journal of God leading man. We cannot separate the spiritual from the secular because God created man in His own image. Man was intended to be a spiritual being from the beginning and was until the fall of Adam. Man remains spiritually dead until he becomes alive in Christ. It is then that he becomes spiritually alive and should live the character of Christ in his daily walk personally, in his home and family and at work.
Colossians 3:17, Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus.” Does whatever really mean everything? Yes, it does and that should be our goal. A Christian man should spend more time with his family than any other area of life. Does your family see you doing whatever you do in word or deed being carried out like Jesus would? This is how they will view your spiritual leadership as a husband and father. One of the greatest things that a father can do for his children is to love their mother as Christ loved the church. This models what a home being led by a godly man should look like. How are you doing today?
