BUILD ON GOD’S FOUNDATIONS

By Dean Gage

Psalm 11:3 “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do.”  One of the most important leadership responsibilities today is for a man to build his personal life and his family on the foundations of God.  Our culture is now on a rapid path of destroying the foundations held so strongly since our beginning as a nation.  With the recent Supreme Court ruling on same sex marriage, the decision of the Boy Scouts of America to no longer ban gay leaders, terrorism and mass murders, attacks on law enforcement and the Planned Parenthood videos, we could thrown in the towel and say it is hopeless.  Edmund Burke said, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

Scripture tells us that these things would occur and men have faced similar times in history.  We are to study God’s Word and stand strong like God’s men have in the past.  Before David wrote our lead verse today, he stated in Psalm 11:1 “In the Lord I take refuge.”  Another translation states, “In the Lord I put my trust.”  This is our encouragement, support and example to follow.  God wants us to win the battles and promises to be with us.  The middle verse in the Bible is Psalm 118:8 “It is better to take refuge in the Lord, than to trust in man.”  There is no guarantee that the foundations of our nation will be restored or not continue to be destroyed.  Christians do not have to worry because our God always takes care of us, even though the walk may be rocky.

Men, you must see what is happening and build your life and family on God’s foundations which are eternal and no man can destroy.  The only thing that you can take to heaven with you is yourself and hopefully all of your family.  You have never seen a hearse pulling a U-Haul trailer with things of the world in it.  The times are more crucial today than ever before in our lifetime for us to take seriously our leadership role in the home.  We have the hope and promise of our Savior that we will win.  Claim it with excitement and lead whom God has given you to lead.  What an opportunity we have to make a difference if we build on God’s foundations, not those of man.  What can we do, take refuge in Him and put our trust in Him.
