Are You Making a Difference?

By Dean Gage

To be more specific, are you making a difference in the lives of those whom God has given you to lead? The real answer is that leaders who make no difference in their followers’ lives are not really leaders. Look at your wife and children. Are you making a spiritual difference in their lives each day? This is how a man should measure his results. Are those you lead growing and maturing in their personal Christian walk? Our goal must be to help them become what God wants them to be. Our leadership must be a combination of our character, our impact and our example of following Christ for them to move toward achieving God’s purpose in their lives. The Holy Spirit and God’s Word must direct our leadership, our relationships, our responsibilities and our behavior to bring about spiritual growth in others. Spiritual leaders are accountable to God and cannot afford to let down on the job or make excuses. In God’s chain of command for the family, you are that man and no one else! If you do not teach your children truth, there are many who will teach them error. Every father should have the goal of someday seeing the reality of III John 4, “I have no greater joy than this, to know that my children are walking in the truth.” So, the question remains, “Are you making that difference in their lives?”
