A Life of Impact

By Dean Gage

“A hundred years from now, it will not matter what my bank account was, the size of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove. But, the world and someone in it may be different because I had a spiritual impact and influence in the life of another person or child, particularly my own family.”

We are starting a series on spiritual impact and influence for a leader. One definition of a leader is that a leader is a person of impact or influence in the lives of those whom he leads. Jesus is the perfect example and there has never been nor will there ever be a leader of greater impact and influence. His impact and influence are as powerful today as ever and will be until He returns. So, the question for each of us is simple. Are you living and leading as a man of spiritual impact in the lives of those whom you interact daily?

Another question is this: When your life is over, will you have been a man of impact? What you are today is the product of the choices and decisions you have already made in life. Our impact has less to do with our position or title than it does with how we have lived our life and provided leadership. Whatever your calling or career may be in life, you are called to have a Christian witness and impact in others, starting first with your family. I do not believe that there is a more profound verse for any man than III John 1:4, “I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth.” Men, it takes your active spiritual leadership to have this eternal impact in your children. They will be influenced and impacted by what they see in you.

Helen Keller said it well, “I am only one; but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. I will not refuse to do the something I can do.” I do not believe that most of us realize and grasp the magnitude and eternal impact of what we can do and how important it is in the lives of those we are given to lead.
